A teenager is dead and another man is in the hospital, after a shooting in Mobile early morning Tuesday, July 30.
Mobile police were on the scene of the deadly shooting on Village Green Drive around 2:45 a.m. when they were called about another shooting victim at Springhill Medical Center. It didn't take detectives long to figure out the two victims came from the same crime scene.
Many neighbors stated that they were awakened by gunfire early Tuesday.
"Yeah I heard the shots ring out, about five, five or six,” Monica Armstrong said.
"I just seen a young, black male on the ground kicking, screaming, moaning for help. I didn't think he would make it."
"I said, ‘He ain't moving.’ I just seen blood everywhere. I said, ‘Y'all he ain't moving no more,’" Monica told us.
Police identified the teenaged victim as Titus Williamson. Williamson WAS 17 years-old he didn't live in the area, but his family said he was visiting another family member.
One man who didn't want to be named said he saw Titus run through the parking lot.
"He fell right there, and he got up...There the blood right there on that leaf right there, and he couldn't breathe. He was pouring out with sweat. And we came up and we said just lay still man, just lay still," the man said.
About 15 minutes after Williamson was shot, police said a 25-year-old turned up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
"These two individuals shot each other. There was some kind of argument we know now through the investigation, and these two shot each other. The investigation is ongoing because there are other people that we are identifying that also played a role," Ashley Rains told us.
Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the gunfire.
One woman said she was not surprised by the deadly shooting. She said gunfire in the area is common.
"I felt like eventually somebody was going to be killed out the process, because before this incident took place it has been numerous shootings just about every night," the woman said.
Neighbors said they saw police recover at least one weapon from the scene.
Police said the 25-year-old remained in stable condition at USA Medical Center Tuesday. They said both shooting victims were with others.
However, there had been no arrests as of Tuesday afternoon. This may be ruled as self defense.
